Chump's losing battle with the pump

Convicted Felon Donald Chump is in deep doo doo and he knows it.  Jon Michael Raasch (DAILY MAIL) reports

President Donald Trump has made a desperate plea to two world leaders in hopes they can help bring down record-breaking gas prices in the US.

'Ukraine has agreed not to hit Russian Energy targets,' Trump wrote on social media Monday. 'Russia has agreed to do, likewise!'

The presidential announcement comes the same day that US diesel fuel prices hit a record high at $6.23 per gallon, beating the previous record set in 2022 under former President Joe Biden.

However, Trump claims the price hikes are not because of his latest military escapade in the Middle East.

'The World's Diesel price rise is mostly caused by the Russia/Ukraine War, not Iran,' Trump concluded in his post.

As the midterm elections approach in approximately 50 days and many voters express concerns about inflation, the economy and wages, the president has explained away the increased prices at the pump as a Europe-created issue.

Rep. Thomas Massie mocked Donald Trump’s repeated claims that America has entered a “golden age” on Monday, pointing to the soaring price of diesel as a reason to question the description.

Asked at the Capitol whether he agreed with Trump’s characterization of the current period as a golden age, Massie told MeidasTouch reporter Pablo Manríquez: “You need gold to buy diesel now, so maybe it is the golden age.”
The remark comes as U.S. diesel prices have climbed to roughly $6 per gallon. Trump has blamed the increase primarily on the Russia-Ukraine war and Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil infrastructure, while other factors are also contributing, including disruptions caused by the ongoing U.S.-Iran war.

He wants the midterms to be about him?  Oh, they will be.  And they will not go well for him.  Lee Moran (HUFFINGTON POST) reports:

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten on Monday explained how “record-high spikes in gas prices” are “killer stuff for congressional majorities” ahead of the upcoming 2026 midterm elections.

On Monday’s broadcast of “News Central,” Enten noted that gas prices usually rise during an election year “but never this high.”

“This is record-breaking,” he said. “We are talking record-breaking for a midterm this century.”

According to the AAA, the average gas price on Tuesday stood at $4.32 per gallon. Enten noted that’s a current 52% hike, compared to “the average for a midterm cycle this century” of 18%.

He does not have a clue as to just how unpopular he is.
