She is busy, you understand. Too busy to campaign.
That is the lie, anyway.
The reality is her network is struggling and she really cannot afford for it to go under. Like many of the 2008 Cult of St. Barack's who depend upon the American people to have a career, Oprah has found out the hard way that Mr. Obama is not as beloved as the media wants him to be.
Media created stars (like Matt Damon) have discovered that their moderate hits are now non-stop bombs and that everyone is just tired of the whoring. We can make clear our disapproval -- and have -- by avoiding these people.
That is the mistake they made. Thinking they could mock America. And that is what they did. Janeane Garofalo going on MSNBC and doing her bit about "Limbotic brains" and other nonsense. Trashing those who were actually old enough to know that, no, there was nothing amazing about Mr. Obama and his triangulation.
And we were not the conservatives, we were not the centrists. We were the leftists who refused to be fooled. And because we would not lie, we were trashed.
Now they are learning just how badly they needed us. The right wrote off the likes of Mr. Damon over a decade ago. But I am someone who did pay to see his films at the movies. Then came his attacks on people for their politics and his whoring for Mr. Obama and why would I ever want to see his movies, let along pay from my pocket to see his movies?
What they should have realized was that if whoring for Barack Obama made you popular, Tina Fey's troubled sitcom 30 Rock would have finally gotten good ratings in 2008 and 2009. That did not happen. The show had less viewers than in 2007.
There are people who supported Barack Obama that I did not know or that did so in a positive manner. Like Halle Berry, for example. I have no problem with her and will gladly see her next films. She is entitled to vote for whomever she wants. And our disagreement over him is not a big deal because she was always respectful of the opinions someone else might hold. But others crossed lines. That haggard looking young woman -- is she on drugs -- from Lost In Translation and in the new Avengers flick should grasp just how badly she is harming the Avengers film with her nonsense.
You can be for someone without attacking everyone else. It is a lesson that cults and their members rarely learn.
But it is the toll whoring has taken on so many that have led people like Bruce Springsteen and now Oprah to announce that they are not going on the road in 2012. In the end, whoring for Barack Obama is not worth it if it risks your own income and career.
