Before I get to the two we saw today, I should note that Jonah said to me, "Grandma, you can use my real name." I do not use anyone's real name without their permission. I noted I would be calling him "George" because I did not have his permission. A friend of his called him last night and said, "Your grandma's calling you George online."
Our Friday films were 30 Minutes Or Less. I found this to be very funny. I would say that it is for 13-year-olds and older and warn that the humor can be scatological. That does not bother me but I know some are so you have been warned. It was a very funny movie.
What does the title mean?
Two guys decide they need money and they need to get someone to rob a bank for them to get the money. They go with a pizza delivery guy (the pizzas are promised "30 minutes or less"). Tom from Parks and Recreation has a nice size role in this and is a bright spot in the movie but there is a lot to recommend in that film.
Our other film was Conan the Barbarian. We had to drive forever for that one since it is in 3D and I was all for it because I liked the early 80s one (with Ahnuld) and figured this would be even better. Wrong. It was a cheap movie.
Most of you are probably to young to remember The Wilderness Family. That was a 70s movie (with sequels I think) that was sold as a family film. It was ugly. The film was ugly. I do not mean actors or script, I mean it was ugly to look at. As if the film had been overprocessed or something. And that is how I felt about Conan.
Being in 3-D, I thought they would at least take some care with the visulas. They did not appear to take any care at all.
We are now at nine movies. We have to see at least one more (I am okay with going over nine). Jonah has his eye on the new Spy Kids just because he grew up with the DVDs for the other three. He is not sure that he wants to see it. But that is what he is leaning towards currently.
This is C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot" for today:
