To start off with police terrorism, the “staff appreciation night” organizers of the event at La Peña have done nothing to address the police beating, false imprisonment and false charges that former KPFA broadcaster Nadra Foster has had to endure over the last two years. No one has addressed the fact that her arm is paralyzed from this ordeal either.
Aileen Alfandary and Mitch Jeserich said that KPFA and Pacifica management calling police to the station and their beating of Nadra inside a KPFA studio was internal KPFA business and not news. Esther Manilla, one of the main organizers of Sunday’s La Peña event and a producer for the KPFA Morning Show, did not report it on the Morning Show or denounce the way the show ignored the incident.Aileen Alfandary declares each Monday through Friday on The New KPFA Morning Show various insults about the staff and whines about her little friends Brian Edwards-Tiekert (Brian Edwards-Teacup is what e-mails say I am supposed to call him). She insists that this is news so she must mention it every news break.
But what happened Nadra Foster was actually news.
Ms. Alfandary did not give a damn about Nadra Foster. Ms. Alfandary was more than fine, day after day, never mentioning the victim of an assault. That was not news to her.
But her friends? She will trash every ethical standard in the world to pretend it is about the news.
I thought I had linked to that article yesterday (Miguel sent it to me), but I somethow did not.
One of my kinder e-mails today reads, "Ha! You didn't get a link in the snapshot!" I have about 26 community members mad at me. They're newer members from the last year and, reading last night's "Baby Matthew Lazar has soiled his diaper," they are convinced I was making fun (in a mean way) of C.I. I am not upset. And if I were to be bothered by anyone, it would be myself that caused the problem. I know from Third, when Jim is suggesting we do something and C.I. will say she cannot do it because people will take it the wrong way (example, Jim wanted to do a prank joke feature where, at the end, we would note that it was a prank) and be upset. She takes the community very seriously and tries to anticipate issues that may arise. I was not attempting to be insulting. I was trying to note how seriously she takes credit and how she rakes herself over the coals. With older members, I am sure that got through. Newer members do not know and have the same history.
Just to give one example of a recent I-owe-C.I.-big, my report for the year, "Ruth's Radio Report: 2010," I did not type that up. I tried to repeatedly. And then called C.I. to say that Blogger/Blogspot kept losing it. She knew what I was talking about because she was writing her concluding paragraph before I called and lost the whole thing and had to start all over on her year-in review ("2010: The Year of Enough"). She told me to read my report and she would type it up. Which I did and she did.
I asked her not to link to me to today but to do so tomorrow. I wanted to finish up the KPFA aspect first.
This is C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot" for today:
