I was going to write about Saturday Night Live but Marcia has even more complaints on it than I do so check out her site. I will just add that as Saturday Night Live continues to refuse to make fun of Barack Obama, people might want to check out the 1977, 1978, and 1979 episodes of the show. They made fun of Jimmy Carter. They have made fun of everyone. But when you have a financial contributor to a campaign, the candidate is never made fun of. Maybe in the future, NBC should impose rules forbidding any contributor to a candidate's campaign from writing sketches about the candidate or his/her opponents?
This is not minor and I do think the F.E.C. and others need to look into it. I can remember when Ronald Reagan ran for president, there were rules that his old films could not be shown during a certain time period so as not to influence the election.
When you think about the way they ridiculed (attacked) Hillary Clinton, John McCain, Sarah Palin, Dennis Kucinich and everyone else but refused, even then, to do comedy about Barack Obama's errors and mistakes, you realize how popular misconceptions were formed.
This is C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot" for today:
