Majority Leader Harry Reid ensured that Don't Ask, Don't Tell would not be repealed before the mid-term elections by refusing to allow any amendments. Everyone takes on their own pork when it comes to defense authorization and Senator Reid was being stubborn. That kept Don't Ask, Don't Tell as the policy. And now it remain the policy because, in January, you see new members of Congress sworn in, Republicans taking control of the House, and the issue may be dead.
