Senator Bernie Sanders really is not who he appears to be. (In interviews, he is fiery and strong but in Congress he is rather weak and tepid.)
Justice John Paul Stevens appears to be everywhere these days. Today he was on NPR's Morning Edition, among other shows.
And his appearance only served to underscore how right-wing are courts are that someone like Justice Stevens can be considered lefties.
Among the many things he talked about was that he wished a law banning flag burning had been upheld. Really?
And that passes for liberal?
Justice Stevens was a moderate. I think that is even more evident if you look beyond the current Court.
We generally do not put fiery liberals on the Supreme Court and that is probably among our worst mistakes.
